Viking-1The Ship

The owner Torstein Hagen wanted his new ocean-going fleet to be stylish and epitomise the very best of Scandinavian design and Star, the first has not disappointed, with 54% guest space ratio, one of the highest at sea, Viking Star is sleek and cosmopolitan.

Her promenade deck offers 360 degree views and the chance to walk a mile a day (4 times around).  An all veranda ship scaled to be small enough to get into off the beaten path ports for discovery!

No expense has been spared with the appointments in each area, making each one unique and homely with amazingly designed furniture and features of blond wood, white marble, glass and leather , the ship feels open and alive and the three deck atrium is understated.

So much thought has gone into the areas on board – you can swim surrounded by the destination in the glass backed infinity pool cantilevered off the stern on deck 7 with a hot tub close by, but if it’s too cool there’s the wintergarden; a charming area that brings the outside inside – with a retractable roof – a lazy afternoon tea to be had or at night movies off the big screen come alive.

The sports deck on 9 will keep the gym junkies happy and wellness and serenity is catered to on deck 2 in the spa based around Nordic culture with an indoor pool, a steam room and those brave enough a snow grotto, and together with other spa offerings of beauty and massage a haven of wellbeing.

Viking-2

Around the ship there is artwork which has been commissioned personally by Viking and the works include Thor Heyerdahl, Edvard Munch and in our suites children’s drawings – yes, the walls are decorated with children’s drawings made by school children of China – they attend rural schools that Viking financially support and encourage – this is an initiative of the owner and chairman of Viking, Mr Torstein Hagen and our piece is of London Bridge; cheery and colourful.

What you won’t find on board? No children u/16yrs and no casino!!
